Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 21 July 2015: BRVM Composite index gained 0.34%, BRVM 10 index rose by 0.44%
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Tuesday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 294.75 to 296.05 points, a gain of 0.44%. BRVM Composite index gained 0.34% to 291.29 against 290.30 points previously.
The equity market capitalization also added XOF 24.4 billion to close at XOF 7,187.65 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,163.23 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was thin today, with the total volume at 122,470 traded stocks compared to 2,175,699 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,001 million (against XOF 1,351 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 27 traded securities via 250 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 97,843 traded securities (accounted for about 90 percent of the total volume) and SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 422.07 million contributing almost 43 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 20.61percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.56.
Among the 27 traded securities today, 11 stocks experienced price gains, 4 witness price drops and 12 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.50 percent to end at XOF 24,870 to emerge as the top price gainers. It is followed by PALM COTE D’IVOIRE with 7.49 percent at XOF 15, 920 and then by PALM COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 4,500 after adding 7.14 percent. In the fourth position was NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE with a price gains of 1.79 percent to close at XOF 57 000.
Looking at the losing stocks, the top price losers was ONATEL BURKINA FASO stock by losing 1.55 percent to settle at XOF 9.550 and FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 1.36 to close at XOF 29,000 as the second loser. SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 0.36 percent to close at XOF 29,000 and SITAB COTE D’IVOIRE dropped by 0.33 percent to close at XOF 149,500.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index somersaulted by 0.30 percent and public utilities sector index marginally fell by 0.07 percent. However, distribution sector index surged by 0.54 percent to close 501.96 points and transportation sector index advanced by 0.12 percent to end at 901.91 points. The financial services sector index advanced by 0.86 percent to close at 113.46 points and agriculture sector index climbed by 3.38 percent to end at 210.57 points. However, miscellaneous sector index remained flat to close at 524.69 points.
